Phantom Blade Zero New Game Plus (NG+): What Carries Over

Phantom Blade Zero calls its New Game Plus a Cycle. Your first replay after the credits counts as Cycle 1, the next one as Cycle 2, and so on. Here’s how to start one, which parts of your save come with you, and how much harder the world gets each time.

Last checked: November 3, 2026. No story spoilers. The only place named below is in the Mountain of Imprisonment.

How to Start a New Cycle

What Carries Over

Not yet confirmed: whether your unspent Remnant Dust balance comes with you. Only one source mentions it, and it doesn’t settle the question. Don’t count on keeping it until this is confirmed.

What Resets

Within a single playthrough, defeated enemies and bosses stay dead. The only way to fight a boss again in the same Cycle is through one of the Banyan Tree Challenges. Starting a new Cycle is the only way to fully restock the world, which is why Remnant Dust farming is a once-per-Cycle job. See our Remnant Dust farming route.

Enemy Scaling: +25 Levels per Cycle

Each Cycle adds 25 to an enemy’s base level for its area:

PlaythroughExtra enemy levels
First run+0
Cycle 1+25
Cycle 2+50
Cycle 3+75
Cycle 4+100
Cycle 5+125
Cycle 6+150

A few enemies are flagged to keep their original level and don’t scale.

What New Cycles Unlock

Higher weapon level caps

On your first playthrough, weapons top out at level 30. Each +1 upgrade raises the cap by 5, up to level 60 at +6. Level 60 is also the cap at +7.

Cycle-gated abilities

Three Ability Training nodes, Keen Edge, Focused Mind and Fortified Body, need a minimum Cycle for each block of five levels:

Ability levelsRequired Cycle
1–5Cycle 1
6–10Cycle 2
11–15Cycle 3
16–20Cycle 4
21–25Cycle 5
26–30Cycle 6

Extra accessory polishing

New Cycles add six more polishing steps to accessories. At the final step, examples include +30% max Sha-Chi on a Support accessory, 18% damage reduction on a Defensive one, and +18% damage on an Offensive one.
